William Osler Health System has over 800 beds and a health care team of over 4,000 staff, 700 physicians and 1100 volunteers. Osler provides programs and services to 1.3 million area residents in the growing and diverse communities they serve. William Osler Health System has three facilities – Brampton Civic Hospital, Etobicoke General Hospital and Peel Memorial (currently being redeveloped).

Peel – William Osler Health System (Osler) celebrated an exceptional year at its Annual General Meeting (AGM), held this afternoon at Etobicoke General Hospital. The meeting highlighted a number of Osler’s accomplishments and initiatives from 2011-2012, with a focus on hospital redevelopment plans, strategic planning and the organization’s commitment to quality care for patients and their families.

Brampton - The William Osler Health System’s oncology nurses were presented with gifts of thanks from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC). Wednesday, April 4th marked Nurse Appreciation Day for the society and Dianne Zahodnik, a lymphoma survivor and LLSC volunteer, represented the society in making the presentation.

Brampton - On Friday, February 10th more than 200 people attended the Peel Memorial Celebration to reminisce, share personal stories and celebrate an important milestone in the history of Peel Memorial. Demolition within the Peel Memorial buildings, that has been underway since December 2011, will now begin on the exterior of the buildings in the next couple of weeks. Dignitaries and guests marked this notable milestone by taking down the first pieces of a brick wall on the Queen wing of the Peel Memorial hospital on the restricted construction site.

Brampton - On January 26th, Brampton’s Shoppers Drug Mart locations presented a cheque for $23,433 to William Osler Health System Foundation in support of Women’s Heart Health. The funds are from Shoppers’ annual ‘Tree of Life’ campaign. In recognition of their generous ongoing support, a recognition plaque hangs in the Cardiology department at Brampton Civic Hospital.

Brampton -Through a contest initiated by Osler Foundation, Nicholas Rodgers and his Brampton Youth Hockey Association Peewee Canucks will play the last five minutes of the first period against the Montreal Canadiens Alumni team during a charity game benefitting William Osler Health System. Hockey Night for Osler will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Powerade Centre in Brampton on Wednesday, January 18.

Brampton -William Osler Health System welcomes its first baby of 2012. Parabh Jot Kaur Ahluwalia and Harpreet Singh Ahluwalia welcomed a baby girl at 12:27 a.m. at William Osler Health System’s Brampton Civic Hospital weighing in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces (3385 grams).
