Surjit Singh Flora has worked as writer for the past 20 years. He is a reporter and photographer for the Hamdard Weekly Punjabi Newspaper in Brampton. His articles, poems and stories have been published in local and international newspapers and magazines. He won the Editor’s Choice Award from the National Library of Poetry in 1993. Surjit is a resident of Brampton. "Punjabi journalism has developed greatly in foreign countries, particularly in Canada. Punjabis in Canada are keen to know about the news of Punjab just as Punjabis in India are keen to know about the happenings in Canada" said Bhullar.
Bhullar's talent and hard work has gained popular recognition in the newspaper industry in recent years.
Bhullar established Hamdard Weekly, a Punjabi newspaper, in 1990. The newspaper is published in five different editions - Brampton, Vancouver, New York, California and Chandigarh, India (with the largest circulation of 150,000). Quomantry Pardesi, a Punjabi monthly magazine established in 1997, is distributed in 65 countries and has a readership of more than 10,000,000.
