Amar Singh Bhullar, local Brampton editor and publisher, was honoured for his accomplishments and contributions to journalism by The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Punjabi University in Patiala, India.

Amar Singh Bhullar, Managing Editor and Publisher of Hamdard Weekly and Quomantry Pardesi, Brampton, was recently honoured by The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Punjabi University in Patiala, India.  Bhullar was the guest of honour at a seminar on "Punjabi Journalism Abroad" organized by the university.

"Punjabi journalism has developed greatly in foreign countries, particularly in Canada.  Punjabis in Canada are keen to know about the news of Punjab just as Punjabis in India are keen to know about the happenings in Canada" said Bhullar.

Bhullar's talent and hard work has gained popular recognition in the newspaper industry in recent years.

Bhullar established Hamdard Weekly, a Punjabi newspaper, in 1990.  The newspaper is published in five different editions - Brampton, Vancouver, New York, California and Chandigarh, India (with the largest circulation of 150,000).  Quomantry Pardesi, a Punjabi monthly magazine established in 1997, is distributed in 65 countries and has a readership of more than 10,000,000.
