This service change is part of Brampton Transit's continuous process of improvement, which began last May with the biggest service change in the history of the City of Brampton. Last year, Brampton Transit altered 22 of the existing 30 routes with additional routes added to serve riders better.

New routes which will be added this September are: 26 Fletcher's Meadow, linking the Heart Lake Terminal to the Mount Pleasant GO Station; 40 Central Industrial, a fully-accessible route operating in the area previously serviced by route 15, and; 53 Kingknoll, a new fully-accessible route created to operate in the area west of McLaughlin Road.

Changes to existing routes include: 1A Queen, 1B McMurchy, 3 McLaughlin, 4 Chinguacousy, 5 Bovaird, 7 Kennedy, 9A Vodden, 11 Steeles, 13 Avondale, 15 Bramalea, 18 Dixie, 22 Springdale, 23 Sandalwood, 24 Van Kirk, 25 Edenbrook, 50 Gore Road and 52 Sheridan.

"Through public input, these service changes have been designed to continue to improve our system effectiveness, address under serviced transit corridors, provide service to new growth areas, improve integration with Greater Toronto Area transit systems and our own transfer connections," said Sue Bass, Director of Brampton Transit. "We realize there will be an adjustment for some of our customers and we thank you for your patience while we undergo these changes."

On Labour Day, Monday, September 4, 2006 transit will be operating on its existing Sunday/Holiday service and this will also be the last day for the Canada's Wonderland Express Service.
