Brampton - John Corbett, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), announced the appointment of Marilyn Ball as Chief, Planning and Infrastructure Services, effective August 19, 2013.

Ms. Ball comes to Brampton from the City of Mississauga, where she worked since 1989 in a series of progressively responsible planning positions including Planner, Development Control; Manager, Development and Design; and her most recent position, Director, Development and Design. She also worked in the City Manager’s Office for two years as a Senior Advisor offering strategic leadership and support. Prior to Mississauga, she worked at the Regional Municipality of Peel and the City of Barrie in planning roles.

Ms. Ball holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Urban Studies from the University of Toronto, and is a member of both the Urban Land Institute and the Congress for the New Urbanism.

“Ms. Ball brings with her a wealth of experience in all areas of urban planning,” said Mr. Corbett. “Her insight and strategic forward-thinking skills will be key assets as Brampton enters the next phase of city-building.”

As Chief of Planning and Infrastructure Services, Ms. Ball will be responsible for all planning and development approvals, as well as infrastructure planning, parks and road maintenance and operations, and development engineering.

Ms. Ball expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to play a leadership role at such an important time in Brampton’s history. “I am very excited to join the City of Brampton as the organization moves forward in a new direction, and I look forward to working with the excellent team here to achieve great things together.”

Earlier this year, CAO John Corbett initiated a review of the City’s organizational structure to better reflect the organization’s service delivery and the key priorities of the new Strategic Plan, which will guide the City’s evolution, growth and development over the next two decades.
