Brampton - Osler Foundation received a $60,000 donation from ALMAG Aluminum (ALMAG) last week as the local aluminum extrusion company celebrated 60 years of business in the Etobicoke and Brampton communities.
To commemorate the milestone, ALMAG staff members, suppliers and customers were treated to refreshments and Michael "Pinball" Clemons was on hand with words of inspiration. During the event, a cheque was presented to representatives of Osler Foundation, designated to William Osler Health System's Etobicoke General Hospital and the new Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness.
Bob Peacock, who succeeds his father, Edward, as President of ALMAG, acknowledged the proximity of the hospitals as a leading motive for the gift.
"ALMAG has benefitted by having good health care in both Etobicoke and Brampton," said Bob Peacock. "This is a donation, but it is also an investment in our community that, I believe, will return as much, or more, back to us over the coming years."
During the event, Osler Foundation President & CEO, Ken Mayhew thanked ALMAG and congratulated the company on its many successes.
"In 60 years, ALMAG has been witness to eras when community drive helped to build and open Etobicoke General and Brampton Civic hospitals," said Ken Mayhew. "As you celebrate your diamond anniversary, do so knowing that your generosity will mean better diagnostics, better treatments and better outcomes for patients when we invest your gift toward redevelopment and equipment needs at Osler."
