Brampton - The community will play an important role in deciding how the Region should plan and manage housing and homelessness services in Peel.

Residents, clients, businesses, and community agencies are encouraged to provide input on housing and homelessness in Peel. The Region of Peel is also providing tools for community groups to host their own sessions.

“Peel’s Housing and Homelessness Plan is a long-term collaborative effort with our community,” said Janet Menard, Commissioner of Human Services for the Region of Peel, “and supports our client-centred approach to community and service planning.”

To support the community, the Region has released the “We Heard Report,” a short summary that frames the discussion on housing and homelessness that has evolved over the years, and asks people to respond to questions on:

• Prevention
• Partnerships
• Information and Data Sharing
• Support Services
• Financial Supports
• Housing Stock

The “We Heard Report” is available for download at peelregion.ca/housinghomelessness.

The community is invited to “have your say” by:

• Dropping into an Open House at the Region of Peel

o March 19, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at
7120 Hurontario Street, Second Floor Meeting Room
o March 21, 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at
10 Peel Centre Dr., Main Floor Conference Room

• Hosting or joining a community consultation

• Completing a short online survey individually or as a group

The Region has worked with the community before on other plans that deal with aspects of housing and homelessness. The 10-year local Plan will consolidate efforts underway in past plans and build on the new information received from this latest effort to engage the community.

The Region is committed to sharing a draft plan with the community in the summer of 2013 for further input and validation.
