Brampton - The 2013/2014 Waste Management Guide will be delivered to Peel households that receive curbside waste collection services beginning March 4, 2013. A separate guide, specific to the waste disposal needs of apartments and condominiums will be delivered in the spring.
Both guides contain important information about the Region’s waste collection programs as well as the services offered at Peel’s network of Community Recycling Centres. Residents are encouraged to keep their guides for easy reference throughout the year.
New this year, is the addition of collection calendars providing residents with easy reference as to when their pick up day is and what items may be set out for collection. “We want to make collection day as easy as possible for our residents.” said Norman Lee, Director of Waste Management. “The calendars include pictures of the material that can be set out on collection day and this easy-to-understand format supports families who may wish to get their children involved in developing proper waste habits at a young age.”
Residents can also find their collection information online via a new tool available at: whendoesitgo.ca. The tool offers a search feature that allows residents to search by address.
The waste guide will be available for download at peelregion.ca/waste
and can be viewed in more than 50 languages using Google Translate – a free online language translation service being tested on Peel Region’s Public Works web pages.
The Waste Management Guide includes information on:
- curbside collection services and schedules, green bin and blue box tips, yard waste information and other collection guidelines;
- electronics recycling – free disposal is offered at the Region’s Community Recycling Centres;
- a complete listing of distribution outlets that offer garbage tags for purchase, recycling boxes (for purchase or exchange), green bins and kitchen containers and
- detailed information on the services offered at Peel’s five Community Recycling Centres.
