Brampton - This is a reminder that on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, Mayor Susan Fennell and City Council will host a Town Hall meeting on the new Peel Memorial Centre for Integrated Health and Wellness. The purpose of the meeting is to obtain public feedback on how to fund the City’s $60 million contribution to the facility.

The meeting will be held at the Garden Banquet and Convention Centre, 8 Clipper Court (beside the Mandarin Restaurant) in Brampton starting at 6:30 pm. During the meeting, residents will have the opportunity to learn about the proposed plan for the new Centre and to discuss the funding options.

At the meeting, residents will be asked for their input on three potential funding options. These include: (1) Tax and Save - raise the entire contribution from property taxes in advance of payment; (2) Borrow - issue debt, and then raise the funds for repayment from taxation later, over a longer period of time; or (3) a combination of the previous two options. For more information on these options visit www.brampton.ca

Comments are welcome at the Town Hall meeting, and will also be accepted online at www.brampton.ca, by phone (voicemail) at 905.874.5901, or by contacting the Mayor or your Brampton Councillor, before March 6, 2013.
