Surjit Singh Flora has worked as writer for the past 20 years. He is a reporter and photographer for the Hamdard Weekly Punjabi Newspaper in Brampton. His articles, poems and stories have been published in local and international newspapers and magazines. He won the Editor’s Choice Award from the National Library of Poetry in 1993. Surjit is a resident of Brampton. On Sunday, August 13, 2006 Vic Dhillon, MPP Brampton West-Mississauga, Colleen Beaumier, MP Brampton West and Navdeep Singh Bains, MP Mississauga-Brampton South attended the 5th Annual Seniors Fun Fair event organized by the Indian International Seniors Club Brampton at South Fletcher's Sportsplex.
The event was full of fun and excitement for both children and adults. The day-long event included games for the young and "young at heart" such as races, musical chairs, soccer and Kabaddi. Young Sikh boys also performed traditional gatka (traditional Sikh martial art). There was plenty of food to be enjoyed by all.
