On Sunday, August 13, 2006, Vic Dhillon, MPP Brampton West-Mississauga cut the ribbon at the 5th Annual Seniors Fun Fair event organized by the Indian International Seniors Club Brampton at South Fletcher's Sportsplex.
The event was full of fun and excitement for both children and adults. The day-long event included games for the young and "young at heart" such as races, musical chairs, soccer and Kabaddi. Young Sikh boys also performed traditional gatka (traditional Sikh martial art). There was plenty of food to be enjoyed by all.
Colleen Beaumier, MP Brampton West and Navdeep Singh Bains, MP Mississauga-Brampton South also attended the event.
One highlight of the day occurred when Mr. Vic Dhillon announced funding of $9,100 from the Ontario government under the under the Communities In Action Fund (CIAF). The money will go towards assisting the seniors in ensuring activities, groups and events such as the Indian International Seniors Club continue to flourish in our community. Mr. Magahar Singh Hansra, President was grateful for the funding and thanked Mr. Vic Dhillon.
