Peel - The Peel District School Board won 17 international awards for communications excellence during the 2011-12 school year. The revamped Welcome to Kindergarten package and the School Food Action Coalition project, which focuses on local food procurement and awareness, are among the projects to be recognized.
“Everything we do is designed to help students achieve to the best of their ability,” says Brian Woodland, director of communications and community relations support services. “These award-winning projects are great examples of the extraordinary work happening in our schools and workplaces to support student success.”
The 17 awards were received from Apex, Hermes Creative Awards, National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) and Strategic Video Awards. Award-winning projects include:
NSPRA provides school boards across North America with communication training and services, and hosts three annual award programs. APEX is an annual competition for writers, editors, publications staff and communicators. Hermes Creative Awards is a competition for creative professionals involved in the concept, writing and design of traditional materials and programs, and emerging technologies.
