Brampton - The City of Brampton Concert Band launches its 2010/2011 Concert Series with a gala concert entitled “Epic Moments in History” at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday October 23, 2010 at the Rose Theatre. On behalf of our music director, Darryl Eaton, we invite you to an entertaining evening of bold music as we explore epic, history-changing moments. To carry on with a new tradition begun last year and express our thanks to our supporters at the start of this new concert series, the event will begin with a small reception at 7:00 p.m. The festive evening will also feature the official release our new DVD that chronicles our own epic moment in history –that of our 125th anniversary concert held last year. If you missed it or wish to relive that moment, this is your chance to add an enduring piece of our history to your music library.
Whether tales of great adventure, natural calamity, individual achievement, technological or social progress and change, history is replete with epic moments that mark our passage through time. These events can impact the whole world or simply touch us closer to home as Canadians, but they tell the story of humanity’s existence on Earth.
We have selected a wide range of new and powerful music specifically for this concert. A soul-stirring start to the program will begin the adventure –through the course of the evening the audience will be taken through a musical recounting of events that will evoke a range of emotions from contemplation and reflection to that of inspiration and celebration. The concert will conclude with a triumphant, uplifting message of hope in the future. This is a night that should not be missed and we look forward to seeing you there.
Our concert series continues on Saturday December 11th, 2010 with the ever popular and multiple award winning “Christmas at the Rose” with our esteemed guests “The Mayfield Singers.” The concert series closes with “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: A Tribute to the Music of the West” on February 26th, 2011, with the distinctive music of the wild western frontier.
