Brampton Senior men's winning streak came to an end in a torrid game against the powerful Balmy Beach club in Brampton on Saturday July 29. The visitors survived a late onslaught by the Beavers and just held out for a six point winning margin. The home team however gained a valuable bonus point which leaves them within striking distance of a top four finish in the tough Ontario Premier League. Once again the Beavers used their deep playing strength to cover for players unavailable due to injury and representative team engagements. Although without Paul Abrams, Chris Mooney, Jamie Vickery, Cam Mitchell, Joel Waldock and Andre Rose-Green, they were able to call upon Dave Jacks, Mike Shannon, Ryan Luffman and Nick Banda-Diez to fill the gaps and all performed with great enthusiasm and skill supported by the experienced Galloway, Kelly and Babbie in the forwards.

Brampton has developed a big strong back division with two powerful centres in Chris Llewellyn and Craig LeBlanc, both capable of breaking down opposing defences and defending well themselves. Both gave the Beach defence a busy afternoon. Home tries were scored by Mike Shannon and Dave Jacks with Fraser Graathuis converting and also kicking two penalties – vital, in earning the bonus point for teams losing by less than seven points.

Following the game club coach Chris Allen stated "We are building a squad that will soon bring a championship to Brampton". It is this kind of confidence and enthusiasm that is spreading right through the club.

In other games the Senior women overwhelmed Ajax Wanderers by 64 - 5 to keep their play-off chances alive. The men's second string lost to Beach by 37 - 3.

In junior action, the U16 lost to the league leading Alliston Timberwolves 36-10 and the U18 lost a heart breaker to the Beach 20-17. Next junior matches are U18 on Wednesday vs. York 6:30 kick off away and U21 take their undefeated record to the Balmy Beach on Thursday at 7:30.
