Brampton - The Region of Peel’s 2010 United Way Employee Campaign is now accepting online registrations for its inaugural Run, Walk and Roll 5K and 1K Kid’s Course at www.walkandrollpeel.ca. The event, which takes place Saturday, Oct. 30, is presented by Walk+Roll Peel and all proceeds benefit the United Way of Peel Region.

“The event is fast approaching and with space limited to 1,000 participants for the 5K event and 100 lucky children for the 1K Kid’s Course, the time to register is now,” Joanne Pattison says, Co-Chair of the Region of Peel’s 2010 United Way Employee Campaign.

The Run, Walk and Roll 5K for the United Way is a family-oriented, wheelchair accessible event open to everyone. The event route begins and ends at 10 Peel Centre Dr. in Brampton and travels along Queen Street, which will be closed for the duration of the event. There are three course options for participants to choose from: a 5K chip timed event; a 5K non chip timed event and a 1K Kid’s Course. Individuals in wheelchairs and parents with children in strollers or wagons are encouraged to participate. Service animals are welcome, however, no pets, bikes, skateboards or rollerblades are allowed on the course.

“Even if you’re not running or walking, there are many other ways to get involved,” says Karen MacGougan, Co-Chair of the Region of Peel’s 2010 United Way Employee Campaign. “We have several fundraising, sponsorship and volunteer opportunities available that allow you to help make this event a true success and support the United Way.”

Several exciting prizes will be awarded on event day in a variety of categories, including the most funds raised by an individual and by a team through pledge collections. Pledge forms are available at www.walkandrollpeel.ca, as well as full details on the many prize categories.
