Though the weather is just beginning to heat up, summer jobs hiring is now cooling down. As students prepare for their return to school, they leave spaces to be filled in workplaces across the province.
Finding a new employee to take on responsibilities in the workplace can be a challenging and expensive task. Fortunately, the Job Connect Program of the John Howard Society of Peel-Halton-Dufferin is here to help.
Our clients are youth, aged 16-24 who are looking for full-time work and who recognize the valuable skills to be gained in the workplaces of Ontario.
Like our clients, the Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities also recognizes the significance of work experience and therefore provides Job Connect employers with a training incentive to offset the costs incurred by those who hire creatively and hire a youth.
In addition to the training incentive provided to employers, Job Connect offers other beneficial services:
- Match and supply job-ready applicants: We match your needs with those of the job seeker.
- Job board: To post your advertisement in our Resource Centre-frequented by upwards of 1500 visitors per month.
- Job Fairs: We can host, attend, or assist with yours to simplify the hiring process.
Job Connect's Employment Consultants also work one-on-one with each applicant to provide preparation for the workplace. The job seeker's personal skills and qualities are identified, and goals are set while outlining an employment plan.
A Job Connect program can be accessed by:
- A job seeker - an individual aged 16-24 who is out of school, unemployed, and looking for full-time work
- An employer - who has workplace safety and insurance coverage and third party liability insurance.
So hire creatively, and hire a youth. Provide a job seeker with experience while benefiting the business!
