Brampton - As Peel Heritage Complex (PHC) closes its doors for an exciting restoration and construction project, it will re-launch its website so visitors can 'virtually' visit the Region of Peel's Museum, Archives and Art Gallery.
Starting March 1, 2010, visitors to http://www.peelheritagecomplex.org/ can learn about PHC's outreach programs, see drawings of the new space, and view expansion updates.
"Our community will be able to stay connected with Peel's art, culture and history even though the physical building is closed to the public," said Diane Allengame, Acting Manager, PHC. "Our website will transform alongside the renovation of the PHC – we're looking forward to sharing our progress as we make history."
The site will expand to include a photo gallery of the construction progress, an exhibit schedule for 2011, and more. PHC staff are consulting community groups on the development of upcoming exhibitions and events in 2011 and beyond. If you would like to be involved in the community consultation process, please contact Josie Premzell at 905-791-4055, ext. 3625 or josie.premzell@peelheritage.ca.
Due to the closure, events typically hosted by the PHC will be postponed, including the Juried Art Show, March Break and summer camps, weekend art classes, badge programs and Historica.
Visit http://www.peelheritagecomplex.org/ for more information about annual events that are on hiatus due to the renovation project and check back often for ongoing news updates.
PHC collects, preserves and displays a variety of materials related to Peel's culture and heritage. Operated by the Region of Peel, PHC is located at 9 Wellington St., E. in Brampton.
