Brampton - The Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Brampton is in need of a General Board Members.

POSITION TITLE:

GENERAL BOARD MEMBER

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The GENERAL BOARD MEMBER is a volunteer that serves as an assistant to one/all of the Chapter Executives and Members of fundraising and or special events. This individual represents the Chapter during meetings, functions, and at after –hour events where applicable.

A General Board Member can choose to "Chair" an event personally or offer assistance to one or all of the events the Chapter is responsible for.

REPORTS TO:

Chapter Manager/Chapter President /Chapter Executives

GENERAL BOARD MEMBER will work collaboratively with the Chapter Manager and Chapter Board Members. He/she will be working in compliance with the Chapter and National Policies, Guidelines, and By-Laws

OUTLINE OF RESPONSIBILITIES OR TASKS:

(Can be a part or solely responsible in these areas)

·To assist in coordination of all aspects of fundraising & chapter events

·To plan/assist in coordination of events with manager, fundraising chairs (Chairs for each event) or Chapter Board Members or Chapter Members coordinating personal events

·To assist in coordination, recruitment, supervision, and training of volunteers for Chapter Fundraising Events in cooperation with the Volunteer Coordinator

·Assist in coordinating Chapter Social/ Awards Nights (Awards, Appreciation, Xmas, Summer BBQ) under direct supervision of Chapter Exec/ Manager to keep within Budget

·Maintain accurate records of donors, solicitations and funds received

·To develop a rapport with our national Partners i.e. ADVOCIS, KINSMEN, CARSTAR, MACS, BIOGUARD & SIEMENS etc.

·To support the Chapter's publicity and Promotion as a speaker at various meetings (as needed)

·To work closely and communicate effectively with Publicity and Promotions Coordinator in terms of publicizing various fundraising events

·To work in assistance with office staff for support (e.g. mailings, correspondence, communication, set-up, records & proper documentation) in any fundraising events

·To assist in licensing application for raffle events, liquor licenses and any other licensing requirements

·To assist in securing contracts for events (e.g. halls, caterers, entertainment, equipment rental)

·To assist in ordering fundraising supplies, materials and equipment needed for various events

·To work in partnership with community agencies and partners

·As a member of the working board you will be responsible for organizing one event per year.

·To work in partnership with the Foundation's CF partners with guidance and supervision from Manager/Fundraising Coordinator

·Provide administrative, marketing, and sales support for the agency's fundraising events

·This role is open to all areas of Chapter information and opportunities that you choose personally

·The GENERAL BOARD MEMBER is responsible for awareness of information gathering and recommendations on new trends and opportunities in community fundraising as well as other development initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

·Excellent verbal and written skills in English

·Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·Demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple priorities

·Ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment

·Good problem solving skills, good sense of humour and ability to handle the unexpected

·Strong ability to work within a team to accomplish departmental goals

·Demonstrated customer-service orientation in dealing with event attendees, donors and sponsors

·Computer skills (MS Office, Word, Exel)

·Ability to work flexible hours with occasional weekends and evenings during Special events

·Awareness and sensitivity to diversity, as it relates to all aspects of the agency's operation, are expected of the incumbent

·Familiarity with the region of Peel/Halton is a definite asset.

TIME COMMITMENT:

·Attend all Chapter and Executive meetings (when absent-report must be submitted)

·Attend all business related meetings/appointments (pertaining to specific events you have committed to)

·Represent Chapter at corporate meetings/events (specific to your event)

SUPPORT: Chapter Manager, Executive, Chairs of Events, Chapter Office as well as our National Office Staff
