Brampton - In November 2009, Downtown Brampton businesses were invited to put an extra sparkle on their window displays by participating in the ‘2nd Annual Holiday Window Decorating Contest’. With the help of a RONA Home and Garden discount coupon for 25% off decorations and lights, a total of 37 businesses competed for prizes sponsored by The Brampton Guardian and RONA.

Judges and friends of the Brampton Downtown Development Corporation (BDDC); Carol Spraggett, Community Chair of the WinterLights program, David Oliver the Director of Advertising at the Brampton Guardian, Dawn Friesen of Dawn Friesen Graphic Design and Ken Hay of Ken Hay Photography used their artistic judgment to score the participants. Judging categories included spirit of the season, lighting, creativity and originality, merchandising (use of products in the window display) and use of window space.

It was a tough call for the judges but they did manage to come up with the top three winners! Cyclepath Brampton took the title of first place, second place went to Aggie Martin, and coming in third was Mellennia Institute of Aesthetics Inc. Honourable mentions go to International Furs Ltd., BFM (Brampton) Enterprises Society Thrift Store and Don Naylor & Associates, Nadia's Day Spa and Medix School.

The BDDC extends special thanks to sponsors, judges and participants for making Downtown Brampton a great place to visit and do business over the holiday season.
