Peel - Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau and Commercial Auto Crime Unit have made more arrests in a series of tractor trailer load robberies, that occurred within the Province of Ontario.

Project "Kingpin" commenced in July of this year, in response to a series of tractor trailer related Robberies and Kidnappings, with the majority of them taking place within the Region of Peel.

It is alleged that during these robberies, the suspects assaulted the victims, who were usually security guards at the truck yards or truck drivers. The victims were then held them against their will. As the victims were being held, the property contained in the trailers was stolen. None of the victims were injured during these robberies.

Three more suspects have been arrested and charged with robbery and kidnapping related charges. The following will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on November 19, 2009, for a bail hearing:

1. Srimoorthy PATHMANATHAN, 39 years, from Milton

2. Sivalingam AMARSINGAM, 42 years, from Toronto

3. Prithivira RAJATHURAI, 30 years, from Toronto

The below mentioned individuals have already been charged in relation to Project Kingpin:

1.Mohamed FARHAN a.k.a Mohamed MASHOOD, 28 years, from Pickering.

2.Majurathan BASKARAN, 21 years, from Toronto.

3.Kanthasamy THIRUMAL, 36 years, from Ajax.

4.Jananathan KANAGASIVAM, 22 years, from Toronto.

5.Taleb SALEH, 20 years, from Woodbridge.

6.Gurjeet THANDI, 23 years, from Brampton.

7.Jagjeet THANDI, 19 years, from Brampton.

All of the suspects were held for a bail hearing and appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton on November 19, 2009.

The stolen merchandise can be summarized as various electronics, appliances and tobacco products.

The total value of the thefts is estimated to be in the multi-millions of dollars. Approximately $1.6 million dollars worth of Imperial Tobacco Products and $65,000 worth of appliances have been recovered to date.
