Army Cadet Recruiting Drive

2824 Army Cadets

2824 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps (RCACC), Cadet Organization Police School (COPS) was named as the top army cadet corps in Ontario in 2009, and is sponsored by the Canadian Forces, the Army Cadet League of Ontario and Peel Regional Police. The cadet program is co-ed for 12 to 18 year-olds and provides training opportunities in leadership, citizenship and physical fitness; given that most cities host a cadet corps within their municipal boundaries, there are over 50, 000 cadet participants nation wide. Applicants may select one of three training locations:

Alpha – South Mississauga - Queen of Heaven Elementary School 1198 Alexandra Avenue

Bravo – North MississaugaEmilKolbTrainingBuilding - Peel Police – 180 Derry Road

Charlie – West MississaugaMeadowvaleSecondary School6700 Edenwood Drive

Mississauga - 2824 Army Cadets / Cadet Organization Police School (COPS), Ontario's award winning Army Cadet program launched its 2009-2010 recruiting drive on September 14, 2009.

New Recruits must meet the following eligibility criteria prior to commencing their training:

aged 12 to 19 years old;
Canadian Citizen or Landed Immigrant;

In possession of the following documents:
Ontario Health Card;
Birth Certificate.

Ability to train a minimum of one evening per week (Monday nights – Sept - June) and one weekend per month.

Applicants may select one of three training locations:

Alpha – South Mississauga - Queen of Heaven Elementary School 1198 Alexandra Avenue

Bravo – North MississaugaEmilKolbTrainingBuilding - Peel Police – 180 Derry Road

Charlie – West MississaugaMeadowvaleSecondary School6700 Edenwood Drive.

Successful applicants will be issued a complete Army Cadet uniform and may be eligible to attend various summer training (merit based, July – August) such as:

Borden, Ontario
Connaught, Ontario
Vernon, British Columbia
Whitehorse, Yukon,
Cochrane, Alberta
Scotland
Germany
Wales
England
USA

Membership has its Privileges

Membership may entitle participants to receive high school credits through Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) Program for regular day school students who are enrolled in Ontario secondary schools, including ProvincialSchools, DemonstrationSchools, the Independent Learning Centre, and inspected private schools that choose to implement Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) is an Ontario Ministry of Education initiative that allows Ontario Students to challenge and earn Secondary School credits (Grades 10, 11 & 12) for learning achieved outside of secondary school.

Cadets are required to check with their school board to determine their eligibility to participate in the PLAR program.

Teamwork

Active members may participate in several award winning teams, such as:
Biathlon;
Marksmanship;
Orienteering;
Drill; and
Band.
