Brampton - The Peel Heritage Complex (PHC) is the place to be this summer! Get fingerprinted and have a wanted poster made for your "crime" at the Summer Open House on Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or experience one of the most exciting positions of your career by volunteering at the PHC.
"The Peel Heritage Complex has a lot to offer this summer for the young, and the young at heart," said Josie Premzell, Development Officer at the PHC. "The Open House provides Peel residents an opportunity to have fun and participate in some interactive activities that everyone will enjoy."
The family oriented activities planned for the Summer Open House are themed around the Arresting Images exhibition, running May 31 to July 12 at the PHC. Open house activities include:
- Fingerprint art
- Wanted posters – draw a portrait of yourself (or a family member) wanted for dreadful crimes, such as an untidy room or getting up late
- Period portraits – dress up in period costumes from the OPP Museum (please bring your own camera for this activity)
The PHC will also feature its regular hands-on activities and visitors are encouraged to conduct a self-guided tour with the PHC brochure and map.
Each summer, the PHC also offers volunteers the opportunity to get valuable hands-on experience by assisting in art and drama camp, preparing for exhibitions, creating awareness of upcoming events through marketing strategies, and experience working on archive projects in the library. Volunteers are needed as early as the June 20 Summer Open House.
To apply or to get more information about becoming a volunteer, e-mail katarina.lukich@peelregion.ca, or call 905-791-4055, ext. 3657.
