William Osler Health Centre has approximately 730 beds and a health care team of over 4,000 staff, 700 physicians and 900 volunteers. As a regional referral centre, Osler provides programs and services to nearly one million area residents. Our faculties offer acute and ancillary health care in the growing and diverse communities of Etobicoke and Brampton, Ontario, Canada. William Osler Health Centre is growing with the opening of the newest facility – the 1.3 million square foot Brampton Civic Hospital on October 28, 2007. Major renovations to the Etobicoke General Hospital and redevelopment of the Peel Memorial Hospital are also planned.
Auditorium at Brampton Civic Hospital named in honour of Mayor Susan Fennell
Brampton - Mayor Susan Fennell was honoured in a gathering hosted by William Osler Health Centre Foundation which unveiled a recognition piece that will become a legacy to Her Worship at Brampton Civic Hospital.
The Mayor Susan Fennell Auditorium sits just inside the main lobby of the hospital and offers the community and hospital staff a spacious and adaptable place to gather for education and health care communications.
The unique signage recognizes the long-standing fundraising efforts of the Mayor, benefitting health care through community events, most notably The Annual Mayor Susan Fennell Golf Classic.
Guests of the event included the Golf Classic organizing committee, members of City Council, leadership donors and members of the Boards of both William Osler Health Centre and the Foundation. Speaking to them after the unveiling, Mayor Susan Fennell remarked, "I am so proud to be associated with the doctors, nurses and technicians of this outstanding hospital. It is most humbling to see your name in the middle of a wall at Canada's most state-of-the-art health care facility."
