The Punjabi Sath, a writers organization in India, honoured Amar Singh Bhullar, Managing Editor and Publisher of Hamdard Weekly, Iqbal Ramowalia, Author from Brampton and Kuldip Thind, Computer Software Technologist, for their contributions in the South Asian community at a function held in Mississauga on July 9th by members of the Punjabi Sath.
Punjabi Sath is an organization established for the purpose of encouraging Punjabi culture and language in the global context. It has honoured many Punjabi writers and other successful Punjabis around the world. Its efforts are particularly fruitful in bringing together the Punjabi intellectuals of Pakistan and India.
These annual awards presented recognize excellence in South Asian Journalism in Canada and on international levels. Punjabi Sath has always awarded journalists who have served their community for the better.
Hamdard Weekly, a Punjabi newspaper, was established in 1991 by Amar Singh Bhullar, a Brampton based journalist. His talent and hard work has gained popular recognition in the newspaper industry in recent years. Hamdard Weekly is published in five different editions - Brampton, Vancouver, New York, California and Chandhigarh India. Amar Singh Bhullar is the Managing Editor and Publisher.

Surjit Singh Flora has worked as writer for the past 20 years. He is a reporter and photographer for the Hamdard Weekly Punjabi Newspaper in Brampton. His articles, poems and stories have been published in local and international newspapers and magazines. He won the Editor’s Choice Award from the National Library of Poetry in 1993. Surjit is a resident of Brampton.
