Brampton - Brampton Cricket League (BCL) is the official cricketing body in Brampton, officially associated with Ontario Cricket Association.

This new city-based league setup is an initiative spearheaded by Ontario Cricket Association whose purpose is to match similar setups such as National Hockey League, National Football League, and other major sporting organizations.

BCL wants to encourage members of all categories, needless of their ethnic background, to participate in the life of the league through playing and social activities. Their goal is to concentrate on providing youth the opportunity to develop and nurture their creativity; and to create high quality champion cricketers, eligible to play for Ontario and National team.

BCL will offer 10- fifty over matches, 6- twenty twenty matches, and 1 test match. 50 over games will be played on Saturday and Sunday afternoons and will start at 12:30pm. 20-20 games will be played Saturday and Sunday at 8:00am.

BCL also has a 5 year plan that includes development of junior school level cricket as well as women's cricket.

The league is currently over whelmed with the number of teams interested to participate for this upcoming season and is currently working with the City of Brampton to scope playing facilities.

Cricket in GTA is not so popular. Only few Leagues are available for interested players to participate. An article such as this announcing or introducing a new League in Brampton certainly plays an important part for interested players of all ages. Not only the article increases the awareness of cricket around us but also helps to recognize the new cricketing body (BCL).
