Brampton - No-cost dental care is now available to low-income seniors in Peel through the Region of Peel's new Seniors' Dental Program.

The program will help Peel residents 65 years and older who have no dental insurance and cannot afford the cost of dental care. Those who qualify for the program will receive basic dental care at no cost to them. This program is fully funded by the Regional Municipality of Peel and is administered by the Public Health department (Peel Public Health).

"Our new Seniors' Dental Program means low-income seniors in Peel no longer have to beg for help with their dental problems," says Regional Councillor Carolyn Parrish, who spearheaded the program. "Peel seniors should not have to suffer from low self-esteem, infection, decreased quality of life or poor nutrition because of untreated problems in their mouths."

The program will provide services to help remove pain and infection, as well as reduce the complications of untreated dental conditions and restore reasonable function. The program may include dentures if needed.

Interested seniors 65 years and older and living in Brampton, Caledon or Mississauga must call Peel Public Health at 905-799-7700 before having any treatment done to see if they are eligible for this program.
