Peel - The crime prevention experts at Peel Regional Police are proud to offer a new program for the residents of Peel. The CyberAcademy's purpose is to educate parents, teachers and other professionals about the risks of identity theft, on-line luring and other related topics. Entry is free of charge, but space is limited to forty seats only. Seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. 

Lecture topics will include:   

  • Computer Safety; passwords, firewalls, viruses, spam, phishing.   
  • Technological Crime; wireless routers, the latest technological developments, emerging trends and risks.  
  • Child Exploitation; child pornography, on-line luring, social networking, cyberdating.  
  • "...at the click of a mouse..." cyber-bullying using digital mediums.  
  • "Unlocking the Secrets" cyber-fraud; how identities are stolen.    
  • "Do You Know Where Your Children Are?" can you trust the internet? How cyber-  paedophiles target, identify and track young victims on-line.

When:
Over three consecutive Wednesday evenings; November 12th, 19th and 26th

The Community Room at the Emil V. Kolb Centre for Police Excellence

Mississauga.

Due to some of the content of the subject matter, this academy is available only to those who are eighteen years of age or older.

Please note that attendees are required to attend all the sessions in order to receive a certificate.
