Peel - Peel Regional Police Traffic Services will be launching their Fall Safe Driving Campaign, commencing October 6, 2008, and ending on October 26, 2008.

During the course of the campaign, officers from the Regional Traffic Unit will be focusing their efforts on various traffic initiatives in an effort to increase road safety.  Areas of focus will include aggressive driving, speeding in school zones, seat belt usage, the physical state of commercial vehicles on the roadways, and establishments contributing to drinking and driving.

The event will coincide with Operation Impact, a national campaign running from October 10 to 13. Operation Impact is a co-ordinated effort between police agencies across the country to work toward the goal of Road Safety Vision 2010 – making Canada's roads the safest in the world.

The Peel Regional Police "Safe Driver Campaign" and "Operation Impact" both focus on increasing public compliance through education and enforcement in the areas of impaired driving, occupant restraint use and all aspects related to aggressive driving.

The Peel Regional Police would like to remind the public that road safety is a shared responsibility.
