Brampton - Brampton Library will be hosting a performance by guest storyteller, Karen Gellman as part of Brampton's 2008 Festival of Learning. Children of all ages are invited to join us to hear traditional stories and songs from Aboriginal culture.

Brampton Festival of Learning

Brampton - Brampton Library will be hosting a performance by guest storyteller, Karen Gellman as part of Brampton's 2008 Festival of Learning. Children of all ages are invited to join us to hear traditional stories and songs from Aboriginal culture.

The Festival is sponsored annually by the Brampton Literacy Committee and is designed to highlight the importance of literacy at both the individual and community level. The Festival will take place September 18th to September 28th. Brochures outlining scheduled events are available at all Brampton Library locations.

Show time and location:
Saturday, September 20, Chinguacousy Branch Library at 150 Central Park Drive, 2:00 p.m.

Performer biography:
Karen Gellman is Métis of Cree decent of the Martin Clan, and has spent the majority of her life living in Ojibwa country, where she received many of her teachings. She is Drum Carrier and has shared this gift willingly for many years. Karen now works for the Region of Peel as the Early Childhood Outreach worker for the Aboriginal Community, and is an active member of Peel Aboriginal Network.

Running time:
30 - 45 minutes
