Nicholas Moreau is a local graphic designer, and member of Visual Arts Brampton. Moreau was once a sports writer for the Brampton Bulletin. He is an administrator and press contact for Wikipedia, and has appeared on CP24 and G4TechTV, and in articles across North America, representing the site. Visual Arts Brampton is presenting the art of Shusma, an Indian artist who was visiting the area. Her artwork is in a truly unique technique, based on the traditional "rabari" medium. Shusma's illustrates scenes by squeezing polymer onto cardstock. The works are then coloured with oil paint.
Shusma told Visual Arts Brampton that rabari is traditionally used to decorate walls. To those unfamilar with this little-known technique, it is somewhat similar to henna, or even cake decorating, however the lines and details are much finer than the latter.
The display also include three meticulously-detailed pen-and-ink line drawings of Khmjaro temples.
The rest of the Fridge Front Gallery featuring the works of Visual Arts Brampton's year-long, weekly youth classes, as per normal. For the month of June, the exhibits feature animal artwork, in collaboration with Visual Arts Brampton's adult display in the neighbouring Artway Gallery.
Sushma's show runs until Friday 28 July 2006.
