Brampton - The Region of Peel is seeking volunteers from private residences and businesses connected to municipal groundwater systems to participate in Peel drinking water sampling program.

Brampton - New drinking water regulation requires municipal drinking water system owners to monitor lead levels in residential and non-residential buildings. To conform to new provincial legislation, the Region of Peel is seeking volunteers from private residences and businesses connected to municipal groundwater systems to participate in Peel drinking water sampling program.

If you own a home or business that meets the following criteria, you are eligible to participate in Peel's lead testing program:

  • A home or building built prior to 1960
  • Plumbing connected or suspected to be connected to lead service pipes
  • Plumbing suspected of being lead plumbing
  • Plumbing and service pipes with lead solder
  • Drinking water lead test results with detectable levels of lead

If your home or business falls within the criteria, and you are interested in participating, please contact us at 905-791-7800, ext. 4685 or e-mail WaterQualityInquiries@peelregion.ca. A Region of Peel staff member will contact you to make an advanced appointment. The sampling will require access to an indoor tap for a period of approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Testing will be conducted every six months and all laboratory results will be communicated to the program participants.

For further information about the new legislation, visit Ministry of the Environment or Health Canada.

The Regional Municipality of Peel was incorporated in 1974 on the principle that certain community and infrastructure services are most cost-effectively administered over a larger geographic area. The Region of Peel serves more than one million residents in the cities of Mississauga and Brampton and the Town of Caledon.
