  Kids Break Out of Their Shells
at PHC Summer Camp

Brampton - Summer has finally arrived and with it, the Peel Heritage Complex (PHC) is pleased to offer Summer Camp with The Actor's Studio. The camp provides young artists an opportunity to break out of their shells while learning drama and art techniques. Workshops are led by trained industry professionals to help build confidence and respect within every student. A variety of camp sessions run weekly until Aug. 1, 2008.

Weekly Sessions

Visual Arts Week: June 30 – July 4
$160 (Ages 6 and up)
Students work with various art forms such as watercolour, sketch, charcoal, pastel and abstract art, and learn some art history along the way. A presentation in the Art Gallery occurs at the end of the week.

Improv Week: July 7–11
$150 (Ages 6 and up)
Kids learn fundamental skills while feeding their interest for improvisational acting. At the end of the week, students take on a highly anticipated improv set.

Visual Art through the Theatre: July 14–18
Mask Making, Prop Making, Set Design
$180 (Ages 6 and up)
If your child is curious about the backstage action of the theatre world – this is the perfect class. Students learn the art of prop making, set design, costume creation and mask making. Students display their work in the Art Gallery at the end of the week.

Dance Week: July 14–18
$150 (Ages 6 and up)
Does your child think he can dance? Students learn a host of different dance disciplines including jazz, hip-hop and lyrical, and perform three choreographed performance pieces.

Theatre Camp: July 21 –Aug. 1
$325 (Ages 11 and up)
Students create their own production and learn how to write and produce their own one-act play. Performances take place at the end of the week.

For more information about Summer Camp or to register, please call 905-791-4055.  The PHC is operated by the Region of Peel and is located at 9 Wellington St. E. in Brampton. The Complex is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; weekends from noon to 4:30 p.m., and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m.  Admission fees are $2.50 for adults; $1.50 for seniors; $1 for students and $7 for families.

The PHC is made up of the Region of Peel Museum, the Art Gallery of Peel and the Region of Peel Archives.  Together they collect, preserve and display a variety of materials related to Peel's heritage.
