Brampton - The Peel Heritage Complex (PHC) has received a special donation of $26,000 from long-time supporter John Cutruzzola. His donation will go towards the establishment of the John Cutruzzola Art Gallery of Peel Juried Show Endowment Fund with the Brampton and Area Community Foundation (BACF).

"The Art Gallery of Peel Juried Exhibition celebrated its 35th year in 2008, making it one of the longest running juried shows in southern Ontario," says Josie Premzell, PHC Development Officer. "The creation of this endowment fund will ensure that the annual Juried Exhibition will continue for many years to come."

Mr. Cutruzzola will be presenting a cheque to the PHC on Saturday, June 21 at the Pancake Breakfast for the Arts, Garden Square (outside the Rose Theatre) at 11 a.m. The money will then be transferred to the BACF who will manage the fund.

"I believe that supporting local artists is very important and I am proud that this endowment fund will be created in my name," says Mr. Cutruzzola. "I hope this will encourage others to make donations and support the Peel Heritage Complex as it is a valuable resource for the community, residents and artists."

The BACF is an independent, philanthropic organization that provides an opportunity for donors and philanthropists to support communities over a long term. The Foundation provides grants to community charities and organizations, and holds funds in trust for a variety of community groups and organizations. These funds are held in perpetuity by the Foundation and soundly invested on behalf of the sponsoring group. The interest accumulated from the fund is given back to the fund holders annually to support the aims and directions of the sponsoring organization.

The PHC is operated by the Region of Peel and is located at 9 Wellington St. E. in Brampton. The Complex is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; weekends from noon to 4:30 p.m., and Thursday evenings from

6 to 9 p.m. Admission fees are $2.50 for adults; $1.50 for seniors; $1 for students and $7 for families.

The PHC is made up of the Region of Peel Museum, the Art Gallery of Peel and the Region of Peel Archives. Together they collect, preserve and display a variety of materials related to Peel's heritage.
