Background
The Brampton Theatre School (BTS) is responsible for previous theatrical successes in the Brampton community with highly acclaimed productions of LES MISÉRABLES in 2004, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOUR DREAMCOAT in 2005, BYE BYE BIRDIE in 2006 and WEST SIDE STORY in 2007. We are celebrating our fifth year by presenting our original production of LES MISÉRABLES - School Edition.  The Senior Young Company is being mentored by a group of caring parents who are actively investing time in their children as well as three theatre professionals, John Thomas, Erica Feggans and Laura Caswell who are instructors at the Brampton Theatre School and have served as long time mentors for these young people.

The Brampton Theatre School Senior Young Company consists of talented youth between the ages of 7 and 19 who auditioned for this production in fall 2007.  The successful candidates, coming from various levels of musical theatre experience became immersed in a 6 month training program that focuses not only on the development of theatrical skills but also valuable life skills, including teamwork, responsibility, respect and collaboration.

Our fund raising endeavors for the Hospital for Sick Children and participation in the fight to recycle through our ink cartridge and cell phone collection, add a wonderful dimension to the Young Company experience.  The entire cast has decided this year's performance of "Les Misérables" will be in support of The Hospital for Sick Children. Wesley Payne, who plays Enjolras, was diagnosed at birth with a vascular malformation of the lymphatic system.  He has had numerous surgeries at SickKids and has had to deal with reoccurring infections and hospitalizations his entire life. The Cast feels that supporting SickKids is a way to recognize the great work the hospital continues to do for Wesley and other children around the world.

As a proud member of the Brampton Theatre School, Wesley feels that his experiences have been truly life altering, as the skills he has learned can be applied in both the theatre and the real world. Wesley was honoured that the cast decided to raise money in support of SickKids, as the hospital has had a huge influence on Wesley, and given him the opportunity to pursue his theatrical passion.

The Brampton production was tremendous! "Marius" brought me to to tears; Javert & Valjean were powerful. I will definitely be buying a ticket to see it again at the Winter Garden theatre!
