Brampton - Supervisor Ken White and Board Chair Duncan Glaholt announced on April 18, 2008 a major step forward in the renewal of William Osler Health Centre.
"With our new hospital open and redevelopment plans well underway for our other sites, the time seemed right to streamline governance and re-engage our community. We saw this as a unique opportunity for a board-driven process of renewal and I am really pleased with what the Board has come up with," said Supervisor Ken White.
The Board and Supervisor White have worked closely with independent consultants and legal advisors over the past two months and will continue to do so for the next month at least to complete the process of renewal to ensure transparency and commitment to an independent process.
The new, streamlined William Osler Health Centre Board will be made up of ten elected members, the Chief Executive Officer and three key medical personnel.
"We are really stepping up here as an organization to realign all of our key committees and to reach out to the community as a whole to help with our decision making process. I really couldn't be prouder of my Board, they all deserve a tremendous vote of thanks for their dedication, hard work and commitment during some rough times for the hospital, and for their complete support, right down the line, for this important renewal process," commented Board Chair, Duncan Glaholt.
Community engagement is a keynote for both the Supervisor and Board who have today announced their intention to create new Community Advisory Committees in both Brampton and Etobicoke to get to the bottom of health care issues affecting those communities.
"The key role of these Community Advisory Committees (CACs) will be to engage the community in a meaningful way in issues of local delivery of high quality patient care. In addition, the CACs will lead the community consultation on the future redevelopment and evolution of our Etobicoke General and Peel Memorial sites," said Ken White.
