The Region of Peel delivers a wide range of programs and services to more than one million citizens every day. This includes ambulance services, public health, long-term care, child care, waste collection, recycling and disposal, water and wastewater services, Regional road construction and maintenance, social assistance and affordable rental housing. Regional Headquarters are located at 10 Peel Centre Dr., Brampton, ON. Phone Number: 905-791-7800. During the curbside waste collection Exemption Period, residents may place unlimited quantities of acceptable waste at the curb on their scheduled waste collection day. No garbage tags will be required for this period only.
"Spring cleaning activities around the house often generate additional waste," says Ben Shepherd, Manager of Waste Collection and Processing for the Region of Peel. "The two-week Exemption Period is a great opportunity to dispose of excess waste around the home without having to tag garbage bags or containers in excess of the two bag limit."
As part of the Two Bag Standard program, the Region of Peel offers three curbside waste collection Exemption Periods each year. The next curbside waste collection Exemption Period occurs after the Labour Day holiday, from Tuesday, Sept. 2 to Friday, Sept. 12, 2008.
Residents should note that regular drop-off fees will apply at all Community Recycling Centres during the Exemption Period.
