Brampton - The Brampton Theatre School's Senior Young Company is proud to present "Les Miserables" from May 30 to June 1, 2008 at the Lester B. Pearson Theatre in Brampton as well as June 27 and June 28 at the Winter Garden Theatre in downtown Toronto!  The Winter Garden Theatre is one of the most historic and beautiful theatres in Toronto – which is the city with the 3rd largest theatre scene in the English speaking world.  This is a wonderful opportunity for local youth to represent Brampton's growing musical theatre scene.

There will be four performances in Brampton and two in Toronto.  The Brampton show on Friday, May 30th at 10:30am is a performance especially for the local schools. This will provide the opportunity for young people to experience theatre at a very reasonable rate and participate in a question and answer session after the show. There will be 3 additional performances in Brampton: Friday, May 30 at 7:30pm, Saturday, May 31 at 7:30pm and Sunday, June 1 at 2:00pm.  Tickets for Brampton shows please contact Brampton Theatre Box Office (905) 874-2800 or visit www.brampton.ca.  The big debut in Toronto's Winter Garden Theatre will be on Friday, June 27 at 8:00pm with a second show on Saturday, June 28 at 8:00pm.  Tickets for the Brampton show range from $14 - $20 while the Toronto show range from $40 - $60.  Tickets are available from TicketMaster at www.ticketmaster.com or 416-870-8000.   All performances are open to the public and suitable for ages 10 and up.

The Brampton Theatre School (BTS) is responsible for previous theatrical successes in the Brampton community with highly acclaimed productions of LES MISERABLES in 2004, JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOUR DREAMCOAT in 2005, BYE BYE BIRDIE in 2006 and WEST SIDE STORY in 2007. We are celebrating our fifth year by presenting our original production of LES MISERABLES - School Edition.  The Senior Young Company is being mentored by a group of caring parents who are actively investing time in their children as well as three theatre professionals, John Thomas, Erica Feggans and Laura Caswell who are instructors at the Brampton Theatre School and have served as long time mentors for these young people.

Background
The Brampton Theatre School Senior Young Company consists of talented youth between the ages of 7 and 19 who auditioned for this production in fall 2007.  The successful candidates, coming from various levels of musical theatre experience became immersed in a 6 month training program that focuses not only on the development of theatrical skills but also valuable life skills, including teamwork, responsibility, respect and collaboration.  Our fundraising endeavors for the Hospital for Sick Children and participation in the fight to recycle through our ink cartridge and cell phone collection, add a wonderful dimension to the Young Company experience.  This will give our students a chance to make a difference in the lives of children who desperately need the benefit of all fundraising endeavors and also giving our youth the opportunity to make our world a better place.
