Atom Boys #1 Team are
OBA Champions for 2007-2008

Brampton - On the weekend of April 5th, 2008 the Blue Devils capped of a tremendously successful season (27-5, 3 tournament Gold's, 2 tournament Silver's) capturing the 2007/2008 OBA Championship.

There Journey started on Friday night when the Blue Devils played a very good Brantford CYO team. The Blue Devils were able to shut them down with their suffocating defence which created turnovers that led to easy buckets eventually defeating Brantford by 31 points (51-20).

The Saturday games where suppose to be more of a challenge for the Brampton Blue Devils but there stellar play in all aspects of the game proved too much for Toronto Triple Threat who went down in defeat 52-32. The second game on Saturday had a bit of controversy to it as Hamilton's Blessed Sacrament had to forfeit the game due to violations against the OBA fair play policies. Brampton won that game by default 20-0.

In the semi-final game on Sunday the Blue Devils faced the Cinderella team of the tournament the Hamilton Wildcats. The Blue Devils where just to focus on this day to let anyone stop them from their goal of reaching the OBA finals. They showed everyone what team defence is all about. They shared the basketball like never before. Running their offensive sets to perfection and scoring at will against the Wildcats. Brampton ended up beating the Wildcats 58-19. Setting up the rematch against the Blue Devils arch rivals Blessed Sacrament who had beaten them in the gold medal game of the 2006-2007 OBA championship.

In the championship game the Blue Devils came out on fire making baskets on their first four offensive possessions. The Yellow Jackets then mounted a come back actually taking the lead at one point in the first half. But the Blue Devils showed tremendous composure, weathered the storm, and took back the lead at half time. In the second half the game went back and fourth. Every time one team made a run the other would mount a come back. Then that Brampton team defence kicked in and the Blue Devils were able to create some crucial turnovers which lead to easy buckets. In the last quarter Brampton held a 10 point lead only to watch it go down to 4 with two minutes left in the game. Drawing from last years memories, the Blue Devils held it together remembering what the coaching staff had been teaching them all season "Keep your composure" when the going gets tough. The Blue Devils kept their composure and made several key plays down the stretch securing the championship victory with a 58-52 win.

The Blue Devils would like to thank their sponsors Nu Sportswear and belairdirect Car Insurance for their generous support and the cooperation and support from all of the parents throughout the season.
