Brampton (20th March 2008) - The Brampton Lions are pleased to announce the signing of one of the top coaches in Canada. Heading the Club, in its inaugural season, will be Armando Costa. Costa will be one of the most important pieces of the puzzle, being not only an A-Licensed coach, but bringing a pedigree of coaching that extends over 18 years.
This announcement begins a series of events that will show the Clubs' commitment to providing the most exciting soccer on the pitch and producing some of Canada's finest athletes.
Costa has gained international fame being part of the coaching staff of the Libyan National 'A' team with Argentina World Cup winner, Carlos Billardo, as well as head coaching their Olympic U/20 and U/17 teams. Closer to home, he was the assistant coach for the Toronto Lynx in the A-League, the longest serving player in the National Soccer League, as well as having a number of coaching positions with the Toronto Blizzard and First Portuguese, where with the First Portugese, Costa won the championship as a player and as a coach.

Being the highly skilled coach that Armando Costa is, he was chosen by Saadi Gahdaffi to coach him personally, it was here that Costa spent two years in Italy closly affiliated with the Perugia coaching staff.
"Brampton is a bright spot for Canadian soccer, I'm very excited about the vision that the management has for this club", Costa revealed in an interview on March 20th, "It is important to build a structure in the club that secures the Lions future. I feel that our philosophy and attitude will excel our club and will be followed by other clubs in the future."
Furthering Costa's credentials is his commitment to learning from the best. He has been all over the globe taking seminars from some of the top coaches in the world which have included Sven-Goran Eriksson, former Head Coach of England's National Team; Sir Bobby Robson, English Football Hall of Famer and Ronald Koeman, manager of Valencia CF.
With the Canadian Soccer League (CSL) schedule set to be released later this month, it is clear that the Brampton Lions will be one of the teams to watch.
