Brampton - The Art Gallery of Peel's 35th Juried Show will be exhibited April 30 until June 15 at the Peel Heritage Complex (PHC), showcasing 49 works selected from 317 submissions. Of those selected, 20 are from Peel-based artists: 10 from Brampton, six from Mississauga and four from Caledon. Mississauga-based artist Fausta Facciponte won one of five cash prizes.

"The number of submissions this year has fully exceeded our expectations," commented Judy Daley, Assistant Curator at the PHC. "Thanks to all artists who submitted their work, and congratulations to award winners."

The cash-prize award winners are:

Ben Pinkney for Brad, oil on linen; John Cutruzzola Award for Best in Show

Susan Dain for Miraflores II, acrylic on canvas; Colony Ford-Lincoln Award for Best Painting

Jurors' Awards:
Fausta Facciponte for Emma for $1.15, photograph
Kal Mansur for Untouchable, acrylic in acrylic box
Helen Pravda for Mother, conté on paper

One of the longest running shows of its type in Ontario, the Juried Show was first introduced in May 1974 and attracts hundreds of artists from across the province each year. This year's show was adjudicated by Ivan Jurakic, Curator, Cambridge Galleries and Anna Yuschuk, artist. The exhibition is generously supported by the John Cutruzzola Juried Show Endowment Fund and Colony Ford-Lincoln.

The PHC  is operated by the Region of Peel and is located at 9 Wellington St. E. in Brampton. The Complex is open to the public Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; weekends from noon to 4:30 p.m.; and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission fees are $2.50 for adults; $1.50 for seniors; $1 for students; and $7 for families.
