Peel - Grab your runners and lace up for the 2008 edition of the Giddy Up & Gallop Fun Run scheduled for Saturday, May 31 at Mohawk Racetrack. This year's event will benefit The Equestrian Association for the Disabled (TEAD).
The event features two individual races around Mohawk Racetrack's seven-eighths of a mile track, one for adults and one for children under the age of 14.
Adult runners will race 5k (over 3 laps of the track) and the children's fun run is a one-lap (7/8 mile) event.Plans are also in the works for the Mascot Invitational Challenge, a 100 metre sprint which features mascots from different sports teams in the area.The inaugural Mascot Challenge in 2006 was won by Stripes, the mascot for the Hamilton Tiger Cats.
Following all of the runs there will be a barbeque and awards ceremony for all participants. Additionally, all runners will be invited to stay for Horseplay, a special Open House event which takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. and the harness races that start at 7:30 p.m.
See what it's like to run on Canada's fastest racetrack.Your friends and family members can sit in the grandstand or stand trackside and cheer you on!The race will also be shown on the infield jumbotron.
The mascot race will take place at 3:15 p.m., thekids' one lap race starts at 3:30 p.m. and will be followed by the 5K race.Opening ceremonies take place at 3 p.m.

TEAD is a registered charitable organization that has been in existence since 1978.This organization, made up primarily of volunteers, provide the opportunity for the emotionally, physically and mentally handicapped to enjoy the benefits of horses and horseback riding.This organization is based out of the Hamilton area and assists over 250 individuals over the course of their seasonal riding sessions and camps.TEAD is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities through equestrian therapy.With the help of volunteers and a stable of wonderful horses TEAD is able to empower their riders and help them deal with the challenges presented to them by their disabilities.
