Surjit Singh Flora has worked as writer for the past 20 years. He is a reporter and photographer for the Hamdard Weekly Punjabi Newspaper in Brampton. His articles, poems and stories have been published in local and international newspapers and magazines. He won the Editor’s Choice Award from the National Library of Poetry in 1993. Surjit is a resident of Brampton.

The Charter Night of the Brampton Village Lions Club was celebrated in Brampton on June 16, 2006.  Approximately 150 Lions and guests from all over Southern Ontario attended the dinner event.

The Charter Night of the Brampton Village Lions Club was celebrated at Spot One Banquet Hall in Brampton on June 16, 2006.  Approximately 150 Lions and guests from all over Southern Ontario attended the gala dinner event.

Past International Director Lion Art Woods performed the induction ceremony and Past District Governor Lion Raguhbir Singh was the master of ceremony for the event.Along with Lion Al Woolley the Charter President of the club, a total of thirty-six members were inducted as Lions and different officers took the oath of their office in the club.

Brampton Village Lions club belongs to District A-711.  With it's 81 clubs, District A-711 represents our multicultural society - there are Chinese, Korean, Finish, Filipino, Spanish, and East Indian clubs to name a few.  The average club has approximately 25 members from all walks of life, male or female, all over the age of 18 are welcome.

There are four other Lions Clubs serving the Brampton community.With this new club, a new door has been opened, a door that will lead to an improved quality of life for those who need help in the community.  This is also an opportunity to instill a sense of family and caring within the members of Brampton Village Lions Club.

Since 1917, Lions clubs have offered people the opportunity to give something back to their communities. From involving members in projects as local as cleaning up an area park or as far-reaching as bringing sight to the world's blind, Lions clubs have always embraced those committed to building a brighter future for their community.

Today there are approximately 45,000 clubs in 197 countries and geographical areas.
