Peel Regional Police press releases and community events information.During the campaign uniformed officers from all Divisions and Traffic Services will intensify enforcement in relation to the "One Person, One Belt" program which requires every person travelling in a motor vehicle to be secured by a seatbelt or appropriate child safety seat. Information on child restraint legislation may be found on the Peel Regional Police web site at www.peelpolice.ca and clicking onto the section under "FAQ – Need your child car seat checked?"
Conviction on a seatbelt infraction results in a total payable fine of $110 and two demerit points. While seatbelt use is encouraged at all times, this campaign provides the opportunity to combine enforcement and education initiatives.
History has shown that using seatbelts has proven to be the single most effective way to reduce vehicle related injuries and fatalities.Peel Regional Police Traffic Services hopes to reduce the likelihood of serious injury or death resulting from a failure to buckle-up. As such,we would like to remind everyone that road safety is a shared responsibility and it starts with you.
