Brampton Minor Basketball Association
Since 1979, The Brampton Minor Basketball Association (BMBA) has been dedicated to teaching youths ages 7-18 to play and enjoy the game of basketball. From grass-roots development to our elite development representative teams, our goal is to continually establish a program that will provide an atmosphere to challenge all participants, allowing them to develop at their own pace.  Each year we place close to 1,300 participants in our winter/summer house and rep team leagues. BMBA emphasizes fair play, respect and community service. Over the years we have seen the growth and enjoyment of this wonderful sport soar in our community.

Brampton - The coaches of the Brampton Blue Devils Novice Boys basketball team are very proud of the effort, dedication, and successes of our boys this season.  It was a very exciting and rewarding season for these young men.  They entered their first tournament in December 1st weekend against among the best teams in the Province.  Brampton met Blessed Sacrament in the semi-finals beating them 31-28.  The finals against Vaughan was a hard fight and closely contested battle with Brampton losing 29 – 33, and earning the silver medal.

The boys enjoyed similar success in the Blessed Sacrament Tournament held of February 29 – March 2nd in Hamilton. Brampton began the tournament with mediocre performances in the preliminary rounds and entered the Division 1B bracket of the tournament.  Their semi-finals and final games were very exciting with both going into overtime in front of the deafening crowds.  In the semi-finals, Brampton tied BJCC in regulation on two made freethrows with time expiring.  They went on to win with a score of 41-40 in the overtime period.  The final game against Scarborough Blues was a very intense affair, Brampton came up the winner in the final score of (48 – 43), earning the gold medal.

Brampton also entered the Newman Youth Basketball tournament on the March 28 weekend in Grimsby. Brampton breezed through the preliminary rounds with wins against Grimsby, Blessed Sacrament, and Mississauga Wolverines.  In the semi-finals, Brampton beat Blessed Sacrament by a score of 29-26.  The finals against Newman Youth was as exciting and it was another closely contested game with Brampton emerging with a 24-22 victory to earn the gold medal.

Brampton entered the Ontario Basketball Championships in London, Ontario ranked 6th in the Division 1 tournament on the April 4th weekend.  The Friday night game was against the No. 2 ranked team, YAAACE. Brampton fought hard and won the battle with a score of 37 -32. Brampton did not fare as well on the Saturday, losing close games to No. 3 ranked Guelph (26-28) and No. 7 ranked Durham (26-31).

Despite the lack of success at the provincial championships, the coaches and management are proud of how hard the boys worked, as well as how well they played and developed throughout the season.
