Brampton Fire & Emergency Services says
"Play It Safe" during Earth Hour
8pm to 9pm on March 29th, 2008
Brampton - Remember to be fire safe during Earth Hour. The Fire Marshal Office of Ontario and Brampton Fire & Emergency Services recommend that you use flashlights and battery-powered lanterns during the hour of darkness on Saturday night.
If you use candles, the Ontario Fire Marshal and Brampton Fire recommend the following safety precautions:
- Use sturdy candleholders. Ones with glass shades or chimneys are the best.
- Keep candles safely away from anything that can burn.
- Keep candles and matches away from children.
- Do not leave a lit candle unattended. If you leave a room or go to bed blow out the candle.
Brampton Fire & Emergency Services reminds you to test your smoke alarms and have a family escape plan.
