The Region of Peel delivers a wide range of programs and services to more than one million citizens every day. This includes ambulance services, public health, long-term care, child care, waste collection, recycling and disposal, water and wastewater services, Regional road construction and maintenance, social assistance and affordable rental housing. Regional Headquarters are located at 10 Peel Centre Dr., Brampton, ON. Phone Number: 905-791-7800. The instant rebate will be taken off the price of the toilet at the point of purchase and equal $60 for Peel-Approved 6L toilets, and $100 for Peel-Approved toilets that flush with 4.8L or less. The rebates will be available Saturday and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the following six locations:
Brampton: 49 First Gulf Blvd., 60 Great Lakes Dr. and 9105 Airport Rd.
Mississauga: 2920 Argentia Rd., 5975 Terry Fox Way and 3065 Mavis Rd.
Region of Peel staff will be at each store to help residents fill out application forms, to assist residents with the selection of approved toilet models and to answer any questions about water efficiency.
To be eligible for the instant rebates, you must live in Peel and own or rent a single or multi-family dwelling. Residents are being asked to bring a copy of their water bill or valid photo ID to verify eligibility.
This instant rebate sale is also being offered at Home Depot stores in the City of Toronto and in York Region on the same dates.
Mail-in rebates are also available from the Region of Peel on an ongoing basis as part of the Toilet Replacement Program. In 2007, the Region of Peel provided 11,502 rebates to residents as incentive to phase out older, less efficient (13-20 L) toilet models, which saved an estimated 1.22 million litres of water. The reduction in water and wastewater that requires treatment and distribution also contributes to a reduction in energy consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions.
The Toilet Replacement Program was initiated as part of Peel's Water Efficiency Plan, a long-term strategy to reduce peak water demand and to support an expected population growth of 23 per cent over the next eight years.
