Canadian Blood Services
Canadian Blood Services is a national, not-for-profit charitable organization that manages the blood supply in all provinces and territories outside of Quebec and oversees the country's Unrelated Bone Marrow Donor Registry. A dedicated team of about 4,800 staff and 17,000 volunteers enable us to operate 40 permanent collection sites and more than 20,000 donor clinics annually. Canadian Blood Services is a non-governmental organization, however the Provincial and Territorial Ministers of Health provide operational funding, and the federal government, through Health Canada, is responsible for regulating the blood system. For more information, please call 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283).

Donate blood together to honour loved ones

Brampton - In the spirit of celebrating families, Canadian Blood Services is asking you to start a new Family Day tradition this February by donating blood at Chinguacousy Wellness Centre, 995 Peter Robertson Blvd, on Saturday, February 16th from 10 am until 3 pm or at Bramalea Baptist Church, 9050 Dixie Road, on Monday, February 18th from 2 until 8 pm.  Family Day on Feb. 18th is the new statutory holiday announced last year for the province of Ontario.

Caryna Wilding, Clinic Recruitment Coordinator with Canadian Blood Services says, "Family Day is an ideal opportunity for families to start a new tradition by donating blood together and saving lives together."

She adds, "Often families are united by certain values.Canadian Blood Services is asking you to embrace blood donation, so others can benefit from your family's health and vitality. Families can donate in honour of loved ones, making the experience even more meaningful."

Three out of four Canadians say they are willing to donate, but have never been asked, so look around you and encourage someone in your family to take that first step together and book your appointments to donate blood.

First time blood donors between the ages of 17 to 61 are always welcome to make appointments to donate blood.

Call 1 888 2 DONATE (1 888 236-6283) to make blood donation part of your Family Day tradition, to check eligibility requirements, or to find additional clinic locations. For more information about blood donation, please log on to http://www.blood.ca/.
