Police Chief Mike Metcalf named Honorary Chairperson of Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake!

"Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Bowl for Kids Sake in Peel Region!"

Peel - Have fun and help the kids in your community by joining Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids Sake 2008 as they aim to raise $205,000 in support of the children in Peel Region who are in need of a mentor.  It's easy to participate!  Gather 5 – 6 friends, family or coworkers and register to bowl at one of eight different events from February 9 – March 2nd. Just choose the date that is most convenient for you, register at www.bbbspeel.com, collect pledges and enjoy a fun afternoon or evening of bowling.

Leading this year's top fundraiser is Honorary Bowl for Kids Sake Chairperson – Peel Regional Police Chief Mike Metcalf. "Focusing on the intervention and prevention of youth involvement in violence and vandalism in Peel Region is a priority. We need to provide the children in our community with the right resources and skills to make proper decisions", states Chief Metcalf. "Getting involved in crime through peer pressure is easy for many kids because they do not have positive role models. It is essential for children to have adults in their lives that they can look up to and spend quality time with, who will guide them in the right direction and help teach them importance of respect and community. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel provides children and youth with an adult friend, someone that they can trust and learn from.  Children who have mentors are better able to make wise choices and cope with the challenges that they are faced with in life.   As Honorary Chairperson of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel's 2008 Bowl for Kids Sake event, I encourage you to make a difference in the life of a child in our community by supporting their largest fundraiser of the year and coming out to bowl.  Every dollar that is donated helps to provide children with a mentor and friend to guide them in the right direction", adds Chief Metcalf.
