If rounds of cocktail parties or family gatherings don't allow for that daily walk, commit to at least 30 minutes of exercise three days per week.
2) Treat yourself – Avoid overindulgence by allowing small portions of the best holiday goodies. Cakes, cookies and pies are available every day of the year so don't use the holidays as an excuse to blow your commitment.
3) Use the smallest plate – One of the best ways to fend off overeating this holiday season is to use the smallest plate available to help control portion size. Filling up a small plate and then seeing it clean tricks the brain into thinking the stomach is full.
4) Limit alcohol – Beer, wine and spirits are just empty calories that contribute to fat gain.
5) Drink plenty of water – People often overeat because they mistake thirst for hunger. Drinking at least 64 ounces of water each day creates a sense of fullness and keeps the munchies at bay.
