Brampton - Maria Pellegrini has been called the "Callas of Canada" and has appeared with the world's finest singers, directors, and conductors in her many performances on the international stage. On November 24th, Maria Pellegrini will appear at Brampton's Rose Theatre, singing some of her most well-known arias. Brampton's new and fast-growing opera company, Brampton Lyric Opera, is excited to present Maria Pellegrini, Canada's operatic legend who was considered "the greatest Butterfly alive" by Lord Harewood, a past director of The Royal Opera House Covent Garden.
Brampton Lyric Opera was founded three short years ago by Brampton resident, Emilio Fina. From humble beginnings at the Heritage Theatre, Brampton Lyric Opera has quickly progressed to performing one concert and two productions with orchestra in the Rose Theatre every season. This is due to the hard work and vision of its Artistic Director, Emilio Fina. The annual autumn concert is an important fundraising event for Brampton Lyric Opera, enabling the company to proceed with its two fully-staged productions of well-known operas in the new year. The two productions for 2008 are Rigoletto and Le Nozze di Figaro. Last year, the concert featured world renowned Canadian Baritone, Russell Braun. Brampton Lyric Opera looks forward to another successful evening with operatic star Maria Pellegrini who has sung all the great heroines: Mimi, Violetta, Nedda, Gilda, and of course, Cio Cio San in Madama Butterfly. Miss Pellegrini will be joined by the BLO soloists, chorus and orchestra.

Brampton Lyric Opera presents Maria Pellegrini on November 24, 2007 at Brampton's Rose Theatre.
