Toronto - CIBC today announced it is investing in a new 6,500 square-foot full service branch at the southwest corner of Bovaird Drive and Airport Road in Brampton. The new branch is scheduled to open in the winter of 2009.

"CIBC's newest location in Brampton will allow us to better serve our clients and demonstrates our commitment to meeting the financial needs of this growing community," said Larry Tomei, Senior Vice President of Central Ontario, CIBC Retail Markets. "The significant investment CIBC is making in Brampton allows us to provide clients with greater flexibility, access and choice."

This new branch will be CIBC's eighth location to open in Brampton.

The new CIBC location at Bovaird Drive and Airport Road will be a stand-alone building in the SmartCentres retail development and will feature extended hours and four Automated Banking Machines (ABMs), including a drive-thru ABM. Located in Brampton's growing east-central area, the branch will offer a convenient option for the area's rapidly expanding residential population.

As part of its strategic plan, CIBC will build, relocate and expand over 70 new branches across Canada by 2011. Many of these new branches are being opened in high growth communities in the GTA, including Aurora, Brampton, Milton, Richmond Hill, Vaughan and Whitby.

CIBC already has one of the largest branch networks in Canada. Its current network of 1,048 full service branches, combined with these new locations, ensures a strong presence where its clients live, work and shop.

CIBC offers its clients convenient hours, including evening and Saturday banking hours in many of its branches, as well as its recently announced plans to open on Sundays in select urban branches. CIBC clients also benefit from access to more than 3,800 automated bank machines, and 24/7 service over the phone and on Canada's leading online banking site, www.cibc.com.

CIBC is a leading North American financial institution with almost 11 million personal banking and business clients. CIBC offers a full range of products and services through its comprehensive electronic banking network, branches and offices across Canada, in the United States and around the world.
